Instructions

Do you like art? If so, what kind of art? If we think about it, we all like art in some shape or form. For some, art is a beautiful oil painting on canvas. To another, art is expressed through dance, while to another, it is expressed through one's fingers as one molds and shapes new objects made with clay. Did you know that written text can also be art? I would like all of you to be artists with the freedom to express yourselves in any way that you would like.

Every Monday morning, I will post a topic on my blog, which you are reading these instructions from. Once you have read my topic, you will need to leave a comment on my page. However, this "comment" should be more than one sentence. It should be your response to the question I am posting on my blog. I would really like to encourage you all to try to write as much as you can. Although I would like for you to write as much as you can, please do not spend more than 30 minutes writing them. If you read a comment from your classmates that you find to be interesting, feel free to comment to them as well! Lets try to make this as interactive via the Internet as possible. Your responses and comments will need to be completed by 8:00 p.m. every Friday. There will be no exception! Therefore, plan on completing this assignment before the Friday deadline in order to ensure that you receive full credit, which will be 10 points for each week.

On a final note, these blogs are intended to be fun and to allow you to further practice writing in English in a variety of avenues. Be adventurous and express yourselves! Although I am primarily looking a lot at the content, I will also be looking upon your grammar as well. Aim for grammatical accuracy. Nonetheless, have fun, and do not forget, all of you are artists!!

Topic 3: Time Travel

If you could have personally witnessed one event in history, what would you have wanted to see?  Why?

  1. There's so many things that I would have wanted to witness. For example landing on the moon, and if it actually happened, end of world war one and two, and how happy people were, also discovery of America a land already occupied, or even when ice cream was invented, but more than all, I would love to have seen the big bang, creation of the universe, galaxies, suns, earths, moons stars and mankind. To see God's invisible qualities to create all things a world is needed and can be completed with. To see how the human was at first. To see how everything was in primitive form and in it’s pure form and how they all changed. To see the smile on God’s face after creation of Adam and Eve.

  2. If I could have personally witnessed one event in history, I would choose parents' wedding . My father and my mother married 43 years ago. I am really wondering about what did they wear and who were there from my uncles ,aunts, and grandpas? I heard some stories from my mom. Such as, how she was 16 years old ,and my grandpas' had been preparing for wedding because my father was her cousin and he was 20 years old-and according to our culture in this period of time, it was not acceptable that women got the marriage from a foreign men who are from other families.
therefore, she was knowing that he would be her spouse since she was a child. It was easier than nowadays to find your spouse. Anyway,I am still thinking which kind of songs they were singing without DJ or TV. Also, how were they dancing and how did my parents seem when they were younger? In few words, If I have to choose personally witnessed on event in history,I strongly want to see my parents' wedding .

  3. A few years ago my father took me to a basketball game that was being played at a university. The teams were the Shanghai Sharks and other university team. I can not remember what the team’s name was but they were all dressed in purple and looked quite funny. The game was quite short and only had 2 halves. I can nit remember who won, but I was obvious that the Sharks were playing very soft on the other team. The atmosphere in the stadium was so exciting. Everyone was shouting, cheering and making noise.

    1. This was something you already went to. The topic for this week was for you to witness an event that you had not already been at. Therefore, it would have most likely been some historical event.

  4. - I would like to see the life in the past and how it was. Moreover, I want to see the people in the past and how there were living and the behavior of the people ,for i think the life in the past was so simple and transparent. Furthermore, I want to witness the past life without any of modern technology. For example, I want to know how people live without electric light , air conditioner ,and Television. After that, I want to compare the life in the past and the life in the present and see what the life it's good for people.

    2. It is really an exciting idea. I believe that every generation has their requirements. We feel so hot beacuse of the global warming that our new technology caused it. The previous generations have a clear water and fresh air and a great environment. I don't think they were not happy or need something else. The main four things were there and they are still here; water, fire, air and food loool.

  6. It's very hard to choose because I wanna see quite a lot of event in the past.
But the top list is Noryang naval sea war shipbuilding era in Korea. this is because, general Lee sunshin was one of my favorite charactor in my country's history and other character's life was so peaceful and happy than him. And when I was child, I saw the drama about him, it was very impressive that his last war in his life. Also, I wonder what's his real testament and wonder real hero's last moment. And It is obviously natural that I want to see his tactics in his last war with his enemy.

  7. If I can have a time travel, I want to go back 25 years ago, and then I want to meet me 25 year past. Currently, I am studying even though I am much older than regular students. That is not easy for me because I cannot focus on only studying. I sometimes have to do something as a husband, sometimes as a father, also as a student. Obviously, I don’t have any complaints now because this is the way I selected, so I am feeling happy at this time. However, I want suggest me to go to better and easier way. Therefore, if I meet me who is 25 year younger than current me, I will give me a lot of motivation to regret nothing. Or, I will give me the numbers of lottery.

  8. If I could have personally witnessed one event in history, I wanted to present at the moment when Arsenal which is my favorite soccer team raised their Premier League cup in the season 2003-2004. In that season, Arsenal was called “unbeaten” because they did not lose any match throughout the season. Although they did not spend a lot of money to buy good player, as the principle of the coach, but their players were very equal at every position. Now Arsenal still keep their playing approach; however, the others team become better than them because all of them spend lots of money for player transfer.

  9. If i could do time travel, I would like to see the Japanese ancient world. Espencially Heian era (794-1185) because the lifestyle of the heian era is way different from the modern one. Nowadays, people always care about what time it is, and rush even though they dont have to do. For example, one day when i was at a station in Japan, a train was late for 1 minute. And many people were very mad and some people complained to a staff of the station. When i saw that, I felt so stressed. Also, people are addicted to technology. Especially smartphones and the Internet. I could not be peaceful if i lost my phone. I always check Facebook and other social net work sites and if i dont get messages back from my friends, I become so angry or think ' Why, what is she doing'. It kills my mental health. On the other hand, Heian people didnt care time that much and did whatever they want; eat good foods, work slowly, do hobbies and etc. Of course, they didnt have smartphone nor the Internet but exchanged letters. It would take forever to get a letter back from a partner compared to emails. But I think that such a slow life style is very interesting. Also, Heian people wear a Japanese traditional clothes Kimono, which i really like to wear. Therefore, I would like to experience Heian lifestyle and escape from the modern stressful world.

  11. There are a number of history events I want to see. One of them is Apollo 11 Moon Landing, on July 20,1969. The Apollo 11 send the first person to the moon, and the astronaut walked on the surface of moon whom named Neil Armstrong. I want to witness this event, because it’s human’s first step to the outer space. It main that human space industry was grew so fast and walk into next level. On the other hand, I think Armstrong is a very brave man. Before his landing, nobody been the outer space successful. No doubt that he have a strong heat to face the death. I admire brave person.

  13. If I have the chance to see some history events,I would like to go back to last century of America, the time that has Madonna and Michael Jackson, that was a crazy time, everybody was crazy for their faith of idol.At that time, people wear bell-bottoms,like blasted hair. The booming of Wall Street attracted many people to pursue their dreams,it is really a colorful time.I also want to witness when Michael Jackson first created Moonwalk on the stage,I want to shout with the crowds.I want to witness the prosperous of that time,to witness every huge moment of fashion and art of that time.Beacause every things in that booming time attracted me so much.

  14. Because having interest in space, I choose the topic about exploration of moon. In 1969, American scientists succeed to launch a spaceship to the moon. This news was featured all over the world because it was the first time. At that time, many people consider this event awesome.
However, recently, many people have had curious regarding why other countries did not go to the moon after the spaceship returned. Also, U.S. and Soviet Union were rival at that time, and both countries had significant skills. However, only U.S. had success, and Soviet Union did not try to launch spaceship with person. As of this year, it is 45 years. Clearly many countries have developed more space technology. So far, the spaceship with person succeeding to go to the moon is only Apollo 11. Therefore, many people think that exploration of the moon is not real.
2years ago, Neil Amstrong who was famous for astronaut going to the moon was dead. There was a rumor. Before he was dead, he hold a press interview, and disclosed that he and other astronauts in Apollo 11 did not go to the moon. It is difficult for normal people to know whether fact or not. There are still many suspicious evidence.

  15. Since I was young my mother and grandmother always talked about my grandfather, they say how great father and husband he was, they still quote his sayings, and they still laugh at his jokes. Unfortunately, he died before I was born, and after what my mother and grandmother said about him I really want to meet him. So I think that if I had the chance to time travel, I will go back in time to meet my grandfather when he was youthful and not in his last years. I want to chat with him and spend a whole day with him.

    1. Aww, I am so sorry to read that you had never had a chance to meet your grandfather. I have a similar situation in that I never got a chance to meet my oldest uncle on my mother's side. He also passed away before I was born, but I had heard many wonderful things about him.

  16. I would like to travel back to the time that my grandmother is still alive, we had a great time in the past. I didn’t have a chance to see her in the last moment because it was too far away from me in that time. It is painful to lose someone important in your life but you can only do nothing. Sometimes we all know the life is like this, and we still have to move on. But once I have a chance to go back, I want to stay with her at the last moment.

    1. I completely understand you, Robert. I miss my grandmother, too. She passed away while I was a college student. Although I did not get to see her during her final moments, I cherish the wonderful memories I have of her. Because I had heard that she had become ill towards the end of her life, I am actually glad that I did not see her during her final moments. I prefer to remember her as the way that I do now. I hope your memories with your grandmother will encourage you.

  17. I would have seen the 11 September crash airplanes in America. I think I was 20 years old that time. I hated the situation that happened when people suspected the muslim and our religion. However, that happened and no one was sure who was responsible for it. I would have know who were the people inside these airplanes to prove for people that Islam is not that bad. Also, if they were muslims , they are not an example of Islam. In our religion , there is " alsalam alykom" and most of international and American students know about this one. It means peace upon you so Islam invites to be peaceful with each other. Not everybody has beard is a muslim . A lot of terrorists have beards to make people think they are muslims. Bad people are in everywhere. It is bot related to a religion, and we don't have the rights to judge all people or a whole religion because one person's actions.

  18. In my opinion, I really want to witness an event in history. I would like to see the completion of the the Golden Gate Bridge. One of the most important reasons is that the Golden Gate Bridge is famous around the world because the Golden Gate Bridge is the largest construction in the world. In addition, the technology of the Golden Gate Bridge is very advanced. It is worth mention that the engineer of the Golden Gate Bridge spent almost twenty years finishing the design of the bridge. Last but of least, my major is architecture, so I want to abroad my eyesight and learn more knowledge of architecture.
