Do you have any pet peeves? For those that may not know, a pet peeve is something that annoys you. For instance, one of my pet peeves is when I am driving and I see that another car has their side blinkers on. Thinking that they want to enter, I allow them space. However, when I realize that they have forgotten to turn off their side blinkers, that annoys me mildly. Therefore, this is an example of a pet peeve.

When I saw this topic I think it is something about pets. But, when I finished reading I know the meaning of "pet peeve". I have a lot of pet peeves. One of them is that I do not like
ReplyDeleteSomeone who put the shopping carts everywhere in public parking lots. I think when we finished shopping we should return the shopping cart. If don't. Shopping carts will bother other drivers. So, don't return shopping carts is my pet peeve and maybe you have same problem with me.
That's annoying,it may get in the way of others,when you drive,you have to stop the car to clean the carts,and then go back to your car,that's really annoying.
DeleteWell, I did that sometime when I parked far from the entrance. And I also mention that each store has one staff who will collect the cart. But when I have to do that, I usually put the cart on the place that another person can easily park their car.
DeleteGood point! Yes, it is very inconvenient when people place their shopping carts anywhere. I always try to move mine back to the shopping cart rack. However, if it is far from where I am, I try to place it where it is not too inconvenient for people.
DeleteI do not like people go back on their words without a excuse. For example, a friend of mine want to play basketball one day, and we came up a place and a time. However, when I went to court on time, I didn't see my friend. after I waited for him about 20 mins, I called him. He told me he couldn't come today. I was so mad when he told me that since he should've told me before the time I met. whatever, I do not care that if he could come, but, obviously it was so impolite that he did not let me know he could not go. I really do not like this.
ReplyDeleteOh. also, i do not like this behavior. I usually arrive 10 mintues early at the place that we are supposed to meet. Therefore, I have ever experienced that.
DeleteI'm very sorry to hear that. However, try to not judge your friends because of one fault. Keep giving your friends excuses and let to understand what emergencies they had . She/ he might had something can't be told . My advice is to not let these situations affect your life or your friendship.

I agree with you,when we make an appointment with others,it is our responsibility to respond them,meet them on time,or tell them that you can not come because of something ahead of time.

ReplyDeleteWhen I came to the United States, I had some problems with measuring units. In the United States people use Pounds for weight, Feet and Inches for length, Gallon for volume, and Fahrenheit for temperature. Those are not the International Standard, and those are still bothering me. For example, when I filled in a form for applying in DMV, I had to use a smart phone to calculate my height because I only know my height as Centimeter, but the form requested for height as Feet and Inches. Actually, I don’t know why the United State does not follow the International Standard although most OECD countries do. I hope that the United State follows the International Standard as soon as possible.

DeleteYes, I have pet peeve which is someone to use my stuff without my permission. I do not like this behavior. Now, I am living with my 2 roommates. One of them sometimes used my utensil, even he has also his utensil and ate my food in the refrigerator. I can endure like behavior. However, I cannot be patient such as he did not wash dishes and utensil after he had made food with my utensil.

ReplyDeleteMy new roommate's strict rules are so frustrating. She keep closing the air conditioner and keep watching me. It is unbelievable to live in California without air conditioner. Also, another pet peeve I have from this roomate is the interfering in my personal life. For example, she told me that I'm not allowed to let my friends visit me at home more than two days a week and no overslept visitors. In addition, she keeps asking me where and when I'm going to every time she sees me dressed up. This girl made me too angry to stay living with her so I decided to get out and find another apartment for myself without too many rules and orders.

DeleteAll people have some kinds of pet peeve, I have this problem as well;for example,when I wake up by phone's ring or clock's alarm it makes me upset and nervous. So,when I wake up in this situation, I usually get bad headache and I can't do any thing,but I have to go outside every day and it doesn't help me to do my duties well, during the day.As a result, I telling my pillow to wake me up every morning.

ReplyDeleteEverybody has their own pet peeve,my pet peeve is that when I'm in China,my roommats always comment on me, they comment on my everything,including my clothes,my shoes,my eating habbits,I think it is so annoying,it make me embarrased sometime,I think it is so rude to comment on other's everything,and it's so impolite.I can accept the advise from others,but if you want to give some advise to others,you must talk to others politely.

DeleteI have a lot of pet peeve but I will mention some of them. First of all, I hate when someone who live with me leave the place dirty and don't clean after he finish whatever he do. For example. if he cock and he finished without cleaning the tools he had used ,that thing made me angry. Also, I dislike people who lying too much even for unnecessary thing just to show off ,or to impress people that's makes them pathetic. At the end, I found the people who has a double-face disgusting and hypocrite because you don't know if they're being normal with you or they're faking their personality.However, I think people should be serious ,and be honest sometimes when it came to serious situation.

DeleteI am kind of outgoing person so I do not have much pet peeves. But I also feel like pet peeve when I hear someone talk to loud at the public place, answering the phone too loud on the bus or in the market for instance. I know they are free to talk loud, but I still feel quite annoyed. Besides, I have another pet peeve when someone in my family departure and left the door open. Then I have to go to the door to lock it. It really annoyed me.

DeleteThe one of my pet peeves that I often notice is when I am doing something, such as studying, sleeping, or busying in some trivia, and someone ask me to do something else that is not related to me. For instance, when I was studying TOEFL, my cousin showed up and asked me to drive him to somewhere. I really hate to be interrupt to do something else that is not my business but I cannot reject it. It is annoying.

DeleteEverybody has his/her pet peeve, so do I. I lived with three roomates when I studied in China. The univrsity dormitory was small and crowded. we did not have enough personal space. Specifically, four of us have different regular work-and-rest time, Yuan is a get-up-early person and the other three are night person. I am easy to awake up, so I can not bear others making noise or turning on light when I am sleeping. And also, I do not like people to touch my personal stuff, especially towel and toothbrush.

DeleteI have a lot of pet peeve. I've never had roommates before and now I'm having this experience in US. One of my roommates is really annoying he complains about everything all the time. I don't eat at home, I have no time to cook and I just buy some fruits and cookies. We did an agreement that everyone who eat at home should buy your own food and you should share it only if you want. My roommate ate my food without my permission and until now I'm waiting for my money back. Yesterday I found him using my computer and I got so pissed of! I tried to explain to him that I hate when people use my things without ask me before but he seems not to understand. I'm looking forward to move to another apartment and cannot wait for it!

DeleteI think everyone has their own pet peeves. And my pet peeve is that I cannot endure noise made from other people when I am sleeping at midnight. For example, one of my roommates in China usually stays up too late to watch films and listen to music when other people are sleeping. I think it is really rude, so I moved to another room with my other roommates finally.

ReplyDeleteI have been seeing a lot of that in my country but when I came to the US 8 months ago, I was happy because I thought I will not see like this habit here. I have rented an apartment and I have seen nice people around me. However, new neighbor who is a man in the middle of the age spits on the ground in anywhere and anytime. he does not care if there are people watching him or not. I am going to write " we do not like what you do - please do not spit on the ground again " on a piece of paper and leave it in front his door.
