Instructions

Do you like art? If so, what kind of art? If we think about it, we all like art in some shape or form. For some, art is a beautiful oil painting on canvas. To another, art is expressed through dance, while to another, it is expressed through one's fingers as one molds and shapes new objects made with clay. Did you know that written text can also be art? I would like all of you to be artists with the freedom to express yourselves in any way that you would like.

Every Monday morning, I will post a topic on my blog, which you are reading these instructions from. Once you have read my topic, you will need to leave a comment on my page. However, this "comment" should be more than one sentence. It should be your response to the question I am posting on my blog. I would really like to encourage you all to try to write as much as you can. Although I would like for you to write as much as you can, please do not spend more than 30 minutes writing them. If you read a comment from your classmates that you find to be interesting, feel free to comment to them as well! Lets try to make this as interactive via the Internet as possible. Your responses and comments will need to be completed by 8:00 p.m. every Friday. There will be no exception! Therefore, plan on completing this assignment before the Friday deadline in order to ensure that you receive full credit, which will be 10 points for each week.

On a final note, these blogs are intended to be fun and to allow you to further practice writing in English in a variety of avenues. Be adventurous and express yourselves! Although I am primarily looking a lot at the content, I will also be looking upon your grammar as well. Aim for grammatical accuracy. Nonetheless, have fun, and do not forget, all of you are artists!!

Topic 1: What do You Expect?

Welcome to the new semester!!  Now that we are in the third day of the semester, I hope you all have settled in and are ready to take on the new semester.  What are your expectations for this semester?  What do you hope to have accomplished by December?  Lets hope that you will be able to attain your goals by then!

    I plan to get 7 score in IELTS and can use different words, ideas and sentences in my writing. Spending more time on improving my English speaking and during free time learn some French. I wish I can pass the drive test before December. Moreover, I also want to travel to other states and national parks in USA.

    I expect to get improved in English and gain more somethings benefit me.At this level, I think it won't be easy ,so i have to work hard and study a lot. There are many things i want to get it be December.For example, I want to get the IELTS score before the end of this semester and my goal is at least 5.5.Therefor, I can attend the university to study my major which is Chemical Engineering, I hope i can get the IELTS score as soon as possible to get the admission letter ,so I can attend the university be January.

    Hello, everyone. My name is Rockhyung Kang, but you can call me Kevin. I come from South Korea two years ago, this semester is the second time for me. I have a special reason why I come here. When I was a university student, I really liked to play the online game called StarCraft that was made by Blizzard Entertainment. At first, I just liked it, but the more I played the game, the more I wanted to make the game like that. Finally, I had worked as software engineer in Korea for 10 years before I came here. However, I realized that I really want to work at Blizzard Entertainment because the company makes me so far. However, I think I need more English skills and master's degree in computer science to work at that company. Therefore, my first hope is that I get an admission in computer science at CSUF by December. That would be my first step to work at that company.

    Hello, my name is Tan Dao from Vietnam.

    My expectation is this ALP is that i can improve my English skills. I hope after finishing this semester i can speak to native speaker naturally and automatically, not like me right now. And then i want to have a good preparation for my TOEFL test and my major also. Besides, i want to understand more about another culture through some international friends.     I am Winnie from your composition class. I am ready for the new semester now. Even though the classroom is not easy to find. I hope my writing skill will improved by more practices, so that I can write a composition fluently. I know I have a lot of mistakes in my compositions and I am glad to know where I am wrong.

    - For this semester I hope that I can managed to pass the advance level. Also, I would like to learn more academic words and prepare for the college. In the other hand, I expect to work hard this semester because it my last semester. Furthermore, I would spend more time trying to make my writing, reading, listening, and speaking to be great of course for the college. However, for this December I hope to accomplished many thing that I was planning for. First of all, get accepted from one college that I have apply for it. Second, be able to talk fluently and writing with no mistakes. Finally, trying my best to succeed at the SAT exam to got the approve for my collage. In the end, I hope that I could attain my goal and become a successful man that graduate from a collage with a civil engineering major.

    Hello! My name is Thayron and I`m from Brazil. This is my first time here in US and I`m really excited for being here. For this semester I want to learn more English and get a great score on TOEFL and after this I'll continue my major in Civil Engineering at CSUF. I want to improve my English skills until the end of this semester specially my writing and speaking. I see here in CSUF a lot of opportunities to work on my English abilities, there are many clubs and soon as I can I hope to join in some of them and I'll take this opportunity to improve my Spanish as well.

    I'm Ellin.For this semester, I hope I can have improvement in English,especially my Speaking English,I hope that I can communicate with local people fluently,and if I'm lucky,I hope I can have some best local friends,then I can go beach and travel around with them,we can go San Diego,Las Vegas,and San Francisco.Besides,I like music and dance,I have been playing piano for years,I hope I can make some real friends in arts, and learn about jazz piano.And I also like dance,I want join in some dance club of jazz and hiphop,I learned a little bit when I'm in China,so I'm interested in it so much.As a new comer,I have so many expectations,but most importantly,I hope I can get good grades at the end of this semester,and transfer to CSUF to continue my credit courses,and pursue my Bacholer's degree.Hope I can have a good time with Professor May and all my classmates.
